002 ✦ Video/Action for Coffee Shop

Ok, I'll try and keep this short and sweet. There should have been a little gift outside your door in the form of chocolate with a nifty logo on it.

[A task that would have been ridiculously annoying if she hadn't had help in the form of one Percy Jackson.]

Since I've been here for like 6ish months, and it's clear I'm not going home any time soon - I figured I might as well do something semi-productive.

[No, this has absolutely nothing to do with her recent death - nope. Not at all.]

Coffee shop's open for business on the 1st floor. You can't miss it - it's right next to the training center so stop in and get your java fix sometime. Also, I guess if people want to help out, I def won't say no.

[It's not like it's a legit legit business with paperwork and things like paychecks. Makes things way less messy that way.]

One more thing before I forget - if I'm not around, I don't object to people doing their own thing as long as you don't burn it down or break everything and leave a mess in your wake. That happens and I'll find you and I will kick your butt. Don't think that I won't. Because I will.

[Or she'll call for back-up to do the butt kicking. DETAILS.]

I'll be here hanging out so stop in and say hi. We also have pie courtesy of Ned, so that's a thing. There's also non-caffeinated drinks like tea and decaf if caffeine isn't your thing.

Oh!If anybody's up for it, I'm totes looking for guinea pigs to test coffee things out on so just let me know if you're game.

[And with that that, she ends the feed and returns to setting up various colored coffee mugs behind the bar.]

What did you do before you got here?

Is that a real question? Of course!

[ Hell, get him a beer to wash it all down with! And if someone can slip his a cigarette with it, then he would die a happy man right now. But he'll settle for the pie and ice cream. This place is decadent in ways Bucky has never experienced even when his father was alive. No one has the money to go out and order like this for themselves. It's selfish and irresponsible in a time of need and he totally revels in it. ]

Hmm I'm a pretty easy... You got a favorite?

Alright.

[He agrees tentatively, just the barest note of skepticism in his voice. There's no doubt he's half expecting her to lead him away to yell at him a little more privately, but hey, even if that is her plan at least she's cool enough to keep it between them.

With his hands still shoved into his pockets, he gives her a solemn nod and follows her lead.]

But it better not be your secret torture dungeon, because I'm way underprepared to give my opinion on that.

....I don't even know what that is, to be honest. I think as adventurous as I ever got was a latte.

Heathens.

[Billy eats the whipped cream off the top before actually drinking the coffee. Contemplating it for a moment.]

That's good, different. I think it need a little more pomegranate?

"It looks pretty," is the first answer she'll get, Natasha casting her an amused glance as she picks up at the mug and takes an experimental sip. Her eyes slide closed in pleasure as she savors it. "Ohhh. You are officially my new favorite person and I'm permanently reserving a stool at this counter."

[ he tries to jump up on his tiptoes and lean out of the way. demigod reflexes, don't fail him now! but she's pretty quick and he's laughing, so the towel snaps him. ]

Only a year? Man, I'm losing my touch. [ he wipes down the steaming wand like she showed him earlier and pushes it out of the way to pour some milk in his cup with the espresso shots. sweet caffeinated goodness, get inside of him. ] How do you think people reacted to all the chocolate?

Talk about dooming a man, won't you?

[ But he's grinning, accepting the glass and the small jar once she hands them to him. ]

I wouldn't mind. What pies do you have right now?

[ It helps simply speaking with someone who can understand being of two minds, in a way, with the recent memory of home, and then being back here and recalling everything that occurred in Wonderland prior to leaving. But more than anything, he's just glad for the company and a chance to sample some of the things in Darcy's new shop. ]

Something...sweet, I think. Of late, I find sweet things to be soothing.

Hm...I could do something like that! I'll try and make one soon then.

[Whether it turns out okay is another matter entirely, but she'll try her best.]

I can make pancakes! And, well, we serve a lot of things here, but mostly American and Japanese food. Um, things like hamburgers and french fries, and rice omelettes, and Mr. Ned's pies, and all sorts of other things but I'm really flexible too! If there's something someone really wants or misses from home, I'll try and learn how to make it for them.

I'm more of an espresso person myself. Coffee's great, but if you want a kick that's a good way to go.

[She smiles, grabbing a larger mug.]

I usually go with mochas - a nice mix of white and dark chocolate to keep it from getting too sweet.

I still kinda do it, but I was an intern for an astrophysicist among other things...

[Like playing modernization guru for a certain Asgardian.]

She's here - I still check in on her and make sure she's eating and sleeping.

[Because yes, those are things she needed to be reminded of.]

I'm a fan of the dutch apple pie, myself. Warm that up a little so the ice cream melts.

[That sounded ridiculously good, almost too good to pass up. She starts prepping a slice for herself as she waits for confirmation from him, opening the door to the microwave to heat up the slice of pie - popping a piece of crust into her mouth as she waits.]

[She doesn't hold back the small laugh at that, giving a snap of her fingers in response.]

Darn, I guess I'll have to ask someone else about that later.

[It's a short walk to the little back room, not wanting to waste any time once they're inside.]

I figured privacy was the way to go - I didn't know if you'd actually told anyone about your... shifty bodily destruction thing-y or if you were still trying to keep it on the DL.

It's a pain in the ass - that's what it is. I had a friend who was a fan of those - the reaction of the barista alone was usually worth going along to watch her order it. I'm a firm believer in keeping it simple or making it up as I go.

[She smiles, pulling her laptop out to make quick note of the update to the recipe file she was building.]

A little more pomegranate... Got it.

[Once her fingers are done putting on a show of flying over the keys, she moves to grab the leftover pomegranate juice, adding a little sugar to it and mixing it up.]

I bet if I lay this out to dry, I could make pomegranate sugar. Or if I put it in the oven, it could melt it into like a pomegranate candy. Something to set in there to melt with the heat of the coffee...

[Or it could just get really gross. OPTIMISM.]

Well appearance was usually half the battle, people didn't tend to want to put things that look gross - at least food-wise - in their mouths. There's no hiding the grin in response to the reaction. "Good! I'm glad you like it. I wasn't sure how that combo was gonna work. I'll add it to my top five list of successes."

Slowly but surely she'd have a solid list of coffee recipes with some seasonal options to keep life exciting.

[There's a pleased smile when the towel connects, shaking her head as she watches him. She's good with only losing a year, nothing more.]

I think they liked it a lot. Who doesn't like chocolate?

[Certainly not people she wants popping into the coffee shop. She hops up onto a nearby counter, letting her legs swing a little.]

I just hope it works out - people could use something semi-normal like getting into a coffee routine - a balance to the chaos.

[She gives him her most innocent smile, focusing on the pie.]

We've got some of Ned's pies right now. The dutch apple is to die for, although there's legit not a bad pie among them. And it's all pretty fantastic with ice cream. The apple-cranberry might go pretty well with orange juice.

[It's a small joy that Kate's recently learned to appreciate. Being a new P.I. in California doesn't exactly rake in the big bucks. She's a little bit shamed to admit it, but it's far from the life she grew up with and the adjustment hasn't been all that easy.]

Those closets are a life saver.

[It makes sense that a scientist like Jane would have to burn the candle at both ends, so Steve can understand that. When Darcy mentions her time at college, he raises an eyebrow. He never got the chance to go himself, but he almost had.

Then Pearl Harbor happened.]

What did you major in?

[Steve takes the cup with a grateful nod and then has a sip. The caffeine won't have any affect on him, but he's come to like the taste.

Darcy had mentioned the pie in her original broadcast. Steve has no idea who Ned is, but it's hard to say no to a homemade slice of pie.] What kinds do you have?

Apple-cranberry sounds nice. Bring it on.

[ He takes a small sip from his juice, then slides up into one of the bar stools waiting for that pie. All the while he looks around the room, noting all the little details she had added to the place. ]

This looks really nice, Darcy.

It sounds like you probably didn't have a ton of time for astrophysics.

Well, that smacks of America. Count me in!

[ Eager like the kid he clearly isn't! Bucky parks himself on a stool at the counter and waits, tapping his fingers restlessly against the worn wood. ]

Man, this place sure's swanky... [ His head can't stay still as it soaks up every detail like he's sizing the place up for weaknesses. It's habit. He's most curious about the wall of books ordered across the shelves. ] That book collection for everyone?

[Oh, right, there were mochas too along with the list he had in his head.]

I never had a mocha before. How do you make one of those?
