[Dipper looks even more frazzled than usual. The stress lines that always surround his eyes are more pronounced than usual.]

So, you might have noticed a really strange transmission that went through? That... that's from my world. His name's Bill Cipher. He looks like a surprisingly well dressed triangle, and he's... some kind of demon, I guess. He can get into your head and mess with your dreams and just be creepy.

[He leans in closer to the camera.]

Whatever you do, don't trust him. Really, it's probably best to run as far away as you can if you see him. And let me know if he somehow gets into your head. I've gotten him out before, I can do it again.

[He sits back a bit.]

[It's disconcerting to say the least, but Dipper squints at him. Maybe because he remembers Mr. Gold of House Baelish being so unflappable, but this seems weird. He seems... flapped.]

Are you... okay? What'd he say to you?

[HE DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING. WHAT WHO TOLD YOU THAT HE SAID SOMETHING. X(

Nothing of importance. It's just not every day that someone meets a person so candid about laying a mind bare like that.

....look, on the bright side, at least you have warning, right? I mean, how much worse would it be for him to just know stuff and reveal he knows when you least expect it?

Considering I'm under the impression he doesn't have a tongue to rip out for his gall, I don't know that it matters either way.

You've got a lot of magic, right? Do you know anything about demons?

Only that there are some who've called me one. [And his father, for that matter. It doesn't make it true.

Well, Pan might be a demon.] I've never encountered a true demon. Not like this anyway.

[....his kneejerk mistrust he had when Gold offered to teach him magic in exchange for a favor returns all of a sudden.]

Why do people call you one? The straw into gold thing?

Having powerful magic doesn't always give people a sterling perception of you, unfortunately.

...I get that. People can be mean to people they don't understand. [Because clearly Gold being called a demon for having magic is exactly the same as Dipper getting bullied for being way too smart for his own good and mixing that with a mess of stubbornness, belief in the supernatural, and social ineptness. Clearly it's exactly the same situation and has nothing to do with bartering for babies or generally misusing magic. Hahahaha.... haha....]

Respect isn't as easy to earn as fear is, sadly. One has to use what you're given, and deal with the reputation it makes for you. After a certain point, you become comfortable in your skin, regardless.

[as if Gold has ever been comfortable in his own skin. no one hates him as much as he hates himself, but it gets him what he wants and the self-loathing is a small price to pay.]

[Whelp, we're back in the Gold is a sketchy guy place again. That is... probably for the best. Still the words lodge themselves in a deep part of Dipper's brain that's always thinking about how to earn respect. Fear. Interesting.

Nah. He could never pull it off. And anyway, that's not the kind of reputation he wants anyway. He's a hero.]

....well, comfortable in your skin is good, I guess. Earning fear sounds kind of... supervillain, though.

Well. I imagine some people can't help but be feared. They didn't ask for it- it simply happened that way.

[And Gold didn't exacerbate that at all. Nope.] I've made mistakes in my time. All I can do now is live with them.

[Dipper's no stranger to making mistakes, at least. And now it's sounding more like the misunderstanding side of things again. People do fear what they don't understand, after all.]

I mean, who hasn't made mistakes? No one's perfect, right?

Indeed not.

[BUT ENOUGH ABOUT THAT.] And, for the most part, those mistakes are where they belong- the past. Which is simple when your mind is safe from any prying... And yet, here we are.

So... what's he doing? Blackmailing your or just reminding you they exist?

[undealt]

I honestly think he's trying to make friends with me.

[krmvgivv]

[Now there's a horrifying thought.]

Why? I don't get the feeling he's a friends kind of guy.

[undealt]

Neither do I, but I have met a person similar to him, and what he needed was followers. I assume that's some of his aim.

[It's hard to compare anyone to Pan, but Bill's... childish sociopathy does put him in mind of his father.]

And he thought you were follower material? [He supposes the magic could be useful.] Following him is a terrible idea. He'd probably lead you off a cliff or something.

[undealt]

I certainly hope not. [he doesn't work well with others, especially not triangles.] And believe me, my boy, I know his type. I'd sooner jump off the cliff myself.

Probably not a great solution, but good. That's... good.

[A beat.]

Do you know any magic that can make something intangible tangible?

[It's worth a shot.]

I'm afraid not. Honestly, I can't say I've ever come across a situation where I've needed it.

But if you did need it. [Or in this case, if Dipper needed it, which is more accurate.] Would you know where to look for one?
