Anybody else like Foreigner?

[ If you listen close, you can probably hear the notes of "Renegade" in the background... ]

I don't really feel like returning the sword to the Queen, what with the whole traitor brand thing still going strong. I am planning on nabbing it myself... I did say I had a plan, didn't I?

[ You might also see him tearing unceremoniously through Real rooms... ]

Still taking turncoats onto the other side. Not the Real side or the Mirror side: something else. Promise I won't be dishing out painful tattoos to people who turn.

[ His eyes flash bright yellow in smug satisfaction before he returns to bustling through the Real side. ]

two : video / action

[ dean’s looking the very part of a paranoid hunter when the feed clicks on, rushing down a hallway with a gun firmly gripped in his hands. he’s definitely not about to take any chances with what’s going down at the moment, the invasion of mirrors becoming more and more obvious. when he speaks it’s in a low, rushed voice. ]

I know the numbers are changing, but betting this is still a good time for a head count of the non-fake variety. Unless of course asking that triggers some kind of a goddamn identity crisis for our less than welcome guests from the great Wonderland mirror-y beyond. [ not that he really gives a flying fuck if it does, tbqh. ]

So— Sam? Cas? Jo? Whoever didn’t get their ass replaced by their Twilight Zone version, now would be a great time to know.

[ of course, telling the difference can be a little difficult too, in some cases, and more might come crawling through still. but a beat follows, as he rounds a corner somewhere in the mansion. ]

Oh, right— whatever you freaks are after- [ which is the sword because of course it is ] -whatever your mission here is that you’re scared of failing ‘cause the Queen on the other side might give you a spakin’ if you do? It ain’t worth the hell I’ll show you if you mess with our chances of findin’ that goddamn sword.

[ just a fair warning. or threat— whichever.

the feed ends with that. ]

( ooh: feel free to action a reply, too! the location can be almost anywhere near or within the mansion. )

[VIDEO] .-- . .. .-. -.. .--. ..- --.. --.. .-.. . ... .... .. -

Hallo. Erm. I have...multiple announcements, I suppose. One is that the book club we established months ago, which fell to the wayside when there was an unfortunate incident at the library-

[Murder. It was murder. And she found the body. Let's move on.]

-is going to start up again. I've posted a sheet on the library doors for people to recommend books they would prefer to read and discuss. Secondly, and more importantly, I know that just about everyone has noticed the riddle the Duchess left. Far be it from me to encourage the scurrilous behaviour of questionable individuals, but those of us who have been here for some time know better - when last we were given a riddle, Wonderland was plagued by all manner of unfortunate fictional monsters.

[The late and grieved Mark Meltzer, in all his investigatory influence, has left a lingering effect on his pupil and peer, who appears steadfastly determined to solve this particular puzzle before any more beasties burst forth from the Mansion's belly.

It should be noted, dear listeners, that Evelyn is planted firmly in front of her library niche, where a good portion of the wall has been taken up by papers and notes, some of them a year old and others freshly scribed, a few bits of red string linking facts and events together. Is it the work of a professional archaeologist and researcher, or a manic conspiracy theorist?

You decide.
]

I've begun compiling old notes from the last riddle and put them alongside my notes from this one in the event there are connexions. There are a number of hidden words and statements, you see- the...the most evident of these are the bolded letters that form the word "mount," the green letters that spell "closet," lower and upper letters spelling "liar" and "old," et cetera. But there- there is absolutely more to this, more than I thought there was-

[She reaches for two larger pads of paper, one of which has a series of zeroes and ones with text beneath it, the other dots and dashes accompanied by tiny notations that detail the numerological meaning of the number eight.]

There is further hidden text. Holding a finger over the word "true" in the message, there appear ten figures of three dashes and two dots, Morse code for the number eight. Over the word "cost," there are dozens upon dozens of ones and zeroes. It's a binary code!

[If she looks frightfully ecstatic, it's because she loves being smart.]

I've translated it to uncover a hidden poem which may, perhaps, raise more questions than it will answer them, but I should like everyone's input. This is something we have to solve together.

first instinct ✥ SURVIVAL ✥ voice.

( before any actual speaking is heard, there is a snarl. it's a quiet, low sort of sound - a warning, more than anything. then comes the muttering. )

Great.

( a couple of tonal beeps are heard as she fumbles with her device. )

This isn't even my phone. ( a sigh. )

Hello? Look - I don't have time for this. Okay? So whatever prank you're trying to play, Stiles, just -- Ha-ha, funny joke. But I'm still mad. This isn't winning you any points. ( muttered, quietly, under her breath: 'I'm gonna kill you.' )

Hello!

[audio + private] this is just not fair

[Crowley is talking fast, like he wants to get all of this out of the way as quickly as possible.]

Right, okay. Seems there's an event on and it looks to be one of mine--well, mine and Aziraphale's.

Since the lot of you seem to be mad enough to think oh, yes, of course we have always been sodding great angels and demons, all I can say is this--please do try not to bring on the Apocalypse this weekend. This isn't Earth, remember. No real need for mass destruction. They never wrote anything about Wonderland, understand?

On the off-chance that anyone out there hasn't, er, changed...I would advise you to keep your heads down. It'll be over soon enough.

[PRIVATE AUDIO]

Ang--er--Aziraphale, I daresay it's time we start barricading the doors. Sooner than later.

Video

Uh. ...Hey.

[The Once-ler is on the screen, awkward as ever. Though, he seems considerably better than he did the last time he spoke on the network. He's had more time to adjust to Wonderland, and to being around people again - to being around people that either don't know about the horrible things he did at home or have actually forgiven him, which is just...an unfathomable thought to the Once-ler.

But he's on the network now and he has a bunch of...colorful, furry, knit things in his arms. Bright red and pink and orange and yellow and purple. One of the sleeves is being tugged by a mischievous little pig off screen. The Once-ler seems pretty uncomfortable though, and it has nothing to do with what Boris is doing.
]

So, um. I've been meaning to do this for like, ages, but I just...I dunno. I misplaced the words, I guess.

[He shrugs, and shifts so he can hold out one of the knit things so people can actually see what it looks like.]

This is a Thneed. [Normally this is followed by a long pitch or a song but noticeably there's nothing like that accompanying it.] I was...I sold them here a while back, but I'm done with that. I don't want them anymore. I was gonna just chuck them out, but...thought I'd ask around, see if anybody wanted one. Otherwise, they've gotta go.

[The truth is, he can't stand looking at them anymore. He's keeping one for a sadistic sort of sentimental value, but he needs to just get rid of the others before he drives himself crazy.]

They're actually kind of cool - they can do pretty much anything you want. [It's a weak pitch though. His heart's not in it the way it used to be.] So...if anyone wants one, I've got a whole bunch of them. No charge.

[He ends the feed with that note. He'll be up in his room for once (Tenth Floor, room 398) and any Thneeds that aren't claimed will be left around the mansion in random places where anyone can take them, like hanging from chandeliers or keeping suits of armor warm. Anywhere, as long as the surplus of them is out of his room.]

[ 004 | Audio/Action ]

[Audio:]

[It's evening when Angel's message reaches the network. There's a brief pause after the feed initially opens, an incredibly faint hint of background noise filling in the gap while the speaker searches for words -- a low humming picked up from the sounds of the birds and crickets going about their business in the garden.]

Cordelia Chase is no longer here in Wonderland. She had friends here. I thought-- they'd want to know.

[Admittedly, he didn't know who she was close to beyond him. They never talked about that kind of thing, but it was important that anyone else who cared about her know that she was no longer with them. They deserved that, even if he didn't know them well enough to give the message personally.]

If you knew her, she probably appreciated you more than you realize.

[That's just the kind of person she is. A big, big heart to match that thousand-watt smile of hers.]

That's all.

[The feed ends abruptly. He never was good with public addresses.]

[Action:]

[With dark having fallen, Angel can be found out in the garden beyond the mansion, seated on one of the benches there and hunched over, his eyebrows drawn downwards as his mouth settles into a determinedly flat line, pensive. Pensive Face is pretty standard for him, but there's something more to it now, a little extra hunch to his shoulders, his usual level of brooding upgraded to Brooding with a capital B.

Her disappearance has hit him hard, for a thousand different reasons, most of which he's not sure he can articulate.

Anyone who passes by and looks closely enough might see that he's holding a piece of jewelry in his hands -- a locket, which he turns over and over without rest, even when he directs his gaze elsewhere, tirelessly repeating the same seemingly meaningless routine as he mulls over what this disappearance means. For Cordelia. For him.

He can't say he knows for sure what she's going back to. Death, but more than that. The Powers always had bigger plans for her, and somehow the uncertainty makes everything worse. All he knows that her leaving again--

He's lost her so many times now. Failed her just like he's failed everyone else, but somehow this is so much more painful. He feels defeated. Nobody trusted him or believed in him the way Cordelia did, but he's never been able to protect her. Not the way he ought to.]

♛ twentieth hunt - video;

[ Today, most are getting to see a side of Sam that they haven't seen before. The expression he's sporting and his general air exude the hunter slice of his identity. His eyes are sharp, narrowed, face collected and cold. This is the expression of a man on a violent mission, of a man who's been to Hell and back, of a man who cuts the heads off of monsters.

It isn't the quiet, thoughtful younger brother. Not today. ]

I'm gonna make this quick. Whoever strung up my brother isn't getting off with a slap on the wrist. Doesn't matter that people come back a few times here after they've been offed; as far as I'm concerned, that's just a push toward a permanent ending.

I've got a few hunches. If you did this, then I guess you don't know us well enough. Winchesters don't stay dead, but they do stay pretty friggin' pissed.

[ And they're glorified serial killers, which is why, right now... Sam Winchester looks decently scary. ]

(It's Tuesday in London. It counts. )

[ Unlike most first accidental network posts, the network is greeted by a voice instead of a video; and the voice sounds both increasingly annoyed and unaware that it is being broadcast onto a public feed. It seems that he simply hit the speed dial without even checking if it went through. ]

Stefan, if you or the Wicked Witch of the West had anything to do with this, I might have to hurt one or both of you.

[ There's a pause where he no doubt lets his gaze traverse his surroundings. ]

If this wasn't you - forget I said this - I'll be back -- [ Hmmm... ] Soon.

[ He pulls his phone away, to glance at it before hitting the end call button. Who the hell was he on with...? For a moment his just drags his nail over the button in thought. Where in the hell is he? There are too many questions and not enough answers. Damon continues to stare at his phone again before hitting a button he actually hasn't seen on his phone before. Wow, someone is skipping over the wonderland shenanigans of the palm pilot, because he's not touching that thing, and going straight to more wonderland shenanigans of phone communicator.

Aaaand the network is greeted by a devilishly handsome face, not to brag or anything, but he knows he's a stud. Squinting he stares into the video feed.

( video ) chapter one: livin' it up at the hotel california

[ becky doesn't remember ever auditioning for big brother, but when she peeks her head out of the room that has been made up for her to resemble her own room almost identically (they even got her posters!) all she sees is a long hall full of doors that presumably lead to other rooms. it reminds her more of a dormitory hallway than a house, but she's never actually watched big brother, so how would she know? maybe this, like, big brother college edition or something, despite the fact that she hasn't been to college since she dropped out her sophomore year. that wouldn't even make sense, anyway, unless they were in some kind of fraternity/sorority house. for all she knows, this could be part of a house, but it seems really odd for a house to have a whole floor of doors like a hotel. she almost feels like she's in a hilton. hilton's hotel california, more like... ]

[ she doesn't feel like she's been kidnapped, even though she's entirely sure that might be a possibility. she's read the supernatural books, she knows what's up. she also knows that if she's the first victim of whatever monster or cult this might be, she's screwed. but if she's not... ]

[ well. obviously the winchesters will show up. they always do. (except for the part where they aren't actually real. but a girl can dream.) but it's a good thing for becky she knows about these things, because if this is a potentially bad situation, panicking would not be a good option. she's obviously allowed to leave since the door isn't locked — or maybe that's just what they want her to think? ]

[ her eyes land on the computer on her desk. it might as well be hers from home, but she knows it isn't. it doesn't have all her stickers and sticky notes attached to it. it also doesn't have the fanfic she was in the middle of writing on it, or any of her other works. really, if she's going to get all the comforts from home, the least they could have done is copy all her computer files. she doesn't really care about the rest of the stuff in her room, but her fanfiction? that is irreplaceable. at least most of it is on the internet, so if she has internet access... ]

[ she opens the browser, which normally would take her to the home page of morethanbrothers.net, but here it apparently takes her to some kind of... forum? she's not entirely sure what it is. it's not like any forum she's ever seen before. but if this is the only thing they want her to access, maybe she'll be able to communicate with whoever else is trapped here, assuming that the people on this strange forum are also trapped here. it could just be a red herring, to make her feel like she's not alone when actually she is, or it could be like all hell breaks loose, and they've all been kidnapped by demons or something — except demons wouldn't be this nice, so probably not. she doesn't really want this to turn into some kind of battle royale, anyway. ]

[ she clicks on the video option and the light on her monitor blinks to life, and some kind of video box pops up on the screen in front of her. she looks a bit lost for a second as she tries to figure out if it's recording or not, but she assumes it is since the only other button she sees is a stop button. she looks back up, as if she's trying to make eye contact with whoever might be watching. ]
Okay, this is kind of weird. Is this a kidnapping or, like, some kind of Hotel California thing? Or maybe it's both? It's hard to tell. But I don't remember how I got here, so that kind of makes me think kidnapping. Definitely not demons, but it's something... [ she seems distracted by something else on the screen, frowning at the 404 error she's getting for morethanbrothers.net until she remembers that the video is still recording. ] Oh, anyway. My name is Becky Rosen. Not I would expect any of you to know that... But, uh, any information on this place and what's going on would be great. And is it just me, or is the internet down?

[ The feed turns on to a young blonde woman leaning against what appears to be the trunk of a tree. In one hand she has an almost impossibly bright red apple, which she turns over slowly, her thumb appreciating the smooth surface. She slowly turns her gaze to the camera. ]

You wanna know something interesting? [ You're going to find out whether you want to or not. ] In Latin, mālum is "apple", but malum is "evil". And here I didn't think fruit could get a bad street rep. Seems kinda prejudice to me.

[ She turns her attention back to the apple. ]

What do you think, are you what you eat?

[ Ruby then takes a slow, and deliberate bite, raising a brow to the screen. ]

I'm generous--there's enough to go around. Might be convenient if you're looking for an out and know someone gullible enough to let food make the decisions for them.

[ ACTION - "HUMAN", the garden ]

[ Perhaps you feel like taking a pleasant stroll while weather is good, or maybe the promise of fresh fruit is a little too much to turn down. Either way, those who decide to step through the the grass will likely come upon Ruby lounging on the branch of a tree. Maybe you're not looking up--it's entirely possible you might get an apple dropped in front of you, or if you're lucky enough, right on the head.

Testing gravity is just as important as indulging in the depravity of forbidden fruit, isn't it? ]

[ ACTION - SNAKE, almost anywhere ]

[ Maybe she's run into someone she shouldn't have, or maybe it's just a tad too cold, but Ruby is certainly having an off day of sorts. There seems to be a red viper slithering around the garden and then into the more populated areas, presumably seeking warmth. At two and a half feet, she's not the largest snake you will find, but her bright colors and dragon-like scales don't really make her seem approachable, either.

So where is she? Hanging on a curtain rod? Maybe you're about to crawl into bed or open your sock drawer and there happens to be a serpent coiled up. Maybe you noticed something odd weaving along the banisters of the stairways or found something you didn't want to see in your bathtub. No matter where, the snake seems to be mainly minding it's own business, but is keenly aware when someone is staring.

Or if they have a snack. Feel like sharing? ]

(( OOC; Like many others, this is the catch-all post for Ruby aka THE SNAKE for the event. I'll be tagging her in other posts as well, but EVERYONE is more than welcome to play with her on the network or in person! She's playing on the image of the snake in the garden of eden offering up the forbidden fruit, which maybe only her family members may find funny and/or groan worthy, but she's more than willing to share. ))

So. As I told you before, my name is Captain Jack Harkness. All of the alcoholic beverages you had in any of your common areas are now mine.

[There's a good chance he's lying there. If one judges by the background, he's up on the roof in a lawn chair sunning himself. A plastic pink flamingo at his side holds his drink. It can't be healthy to be drinking something that's a swirling liquid of red, blue, and orange.]

So is some of the food.

[Meaning snack food. A few piglets lounge about, safe and content with Jack. Each one has a light drink carrier strapped to it. Who doesn't want a drink they have to keep up with?]

I've met a few of you that want physical contact. Should you want that, feel free to come to me. What I won't promise you is sex. While I like it as much as the next person, but something is wrong. We all saw that in one's communication about this not being something we are in control of. Addictions. Craving.

It's safe here.

[All he wanted long ago was the Doctor to be proud of him. He'd like to think Ianto could be now too. He smiles, welcoming and as seductive as Jack Harkness can. He can do this for them.]

[Castiel very rarely makes use of the network, but now he's had some time to evaluate what's taking place here and given the epidemic that's taken over the mansion since yesterday, he's got no choice but to say something.

Is this his fault, or Dean's, or Sam's? There's no way to be certain, but Castiel chooses to take the initiative with issuing an explanation. He would rather the others didn't draw attention to themselves.

He's seated in a room (the room Dean once occupied, which Castiel mainly uses for storage), cross-legged on the floor, with a burger in one hand. The area around him is scattered with wrappers, so it's clear this isn't his first one.]

This event is one that belongs to my world. [He takes a bite of the burger and keeps talking around the food.] We're all being influenced by Famine. He is...

[He pauses, his expression slowly shifting to one of confusion as he stares toward the ceiling, searching for a word that isn't there. He'd felt disoriented early yesterday morning. Something was taken.]

He's a powerful demon that's able to inspire Famine in any creature. This can manifest in a number of different ways. [His is actually rather mundane.]

Anything you may crave, any addiction you may have, it will be pushed to an extreme level. If you suspect that you could become dangerous, I would advise that you have someone restrain you to save you from yourself. [Not that it had worked with Sam the first time around.

Castiel takes another bite of the burger, finishing it off in one go. He doesn't seem to care that he's talking with his mouth full.]
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

[With that, he ends the feed and then sends a text message to Sam Winchester:] Where are you?

[Action:]

[The gnawing hunger has been mounting since the early morning hours. Usually, it's easy enough to sate -- after decades upon decades of almost nothing but animal blood, he still misses the genuine article, but aside from taste, there isn't much difference. As long as it's something red, it's enough to stop his hunger in its tracks.

Except, apparently, today.

It's puzzling at first. The first two glasses of pig's blood go down easy, but he feels just as empty as he did before. A third and fourth don't make any difference, either. Whereas he's normally self-conscious about risking letting other people see him drink, the painful and unsatisfied hunger is enough to push him not to care. For the first half of the first day, he'll he be in the kitchen, drinking glass after glass of pig's blood until he finds himself forced to move onto larger containers, lidded plastic buckets like the ones he gets from the butcher's shop back home. Before long, he stops caring about his appearance, too -- any blood that manages to get on his face or clothes is left where it is instead of being wiped away -- anything to keep the blood coming faster.

He continues on like this until he realizes that it's not pig's blood he's hungry for. It's the scent of the humans in the mansion that's most telling. Most days, he can swallow it down and resist, push through the temptation and do things the way he always does.

Today, they just smell... tastier.

During the daylight hours, he's limited to the mansion, but will be making every effort to stay away from highly populated areas, mostly keeping to the basement or trying to hide himself away in one of the tearooms. At night, he'll move himself outdoors, trying to get as far from the mansion as possible, moving towards the edge of the forest or trying to intentionally get himself lost in the hedge maze.]

This is a public notice.

I've relocated to the 1st floor. I'll try to stay out of your way.

For what it's worth, I'm so sorry. If it were up to me I'd disappear completely, but it's not fair to any of you to be in the clinic.

I've never been a man of words but sorry doesn't even to begin to express what I am. Sick, maybe. Sick and without any way to make amends for it. My future self could have prevented this and I can't pretend to understand why he didn't.

But what I know for sure is that I am not dangerous.

8th Bad Idea [Video]

[ A little while after that disaster of a video Stiles made in his body, Isaac is on the network, in Stiles' body. Said body is shirtless and literally every mole on his pale awkward frame is circled in red permanent marker. Also if you happen to be the body's owner, or body's boyfriend the manscaping Isaac has done is rather obvious.

With surprising ease he falls into the role of Stiles Stilinski.
]

Have you guys ever noticed how weird looking I really am? Seriously, look at all these moles.

[ He frowns before scratching the back of his neck. Okay, and really this all comes off like Isaac making fun of Stiles instead of actually being stiles... ]

No wonder I'm a virgin. No one really wants to date the weird twitchy dude that's benched every lacrosse game ever. I get it. So -- I figured I'd take a hint from Isaac and get rid of my stuff and start over fresh. Comic books included. I've got way too much plaid anyway.

[Bela has been drinking.]

I must commend whomever is in charge of the wardrobes for having the finest Italian suits and shoes known to all of humankind within them.

[Her words are a little slurred but overall, she's audible. The best way to cope with everything that had been going on? Wine.]

Is anyone having as much fun as I am? It's an important question.

action:

[Said Italian suit wearing, totally a man Bela can be found in the local bar with a glass of wine and a nearly empty bottle of the best vintage that Wonderland could provide. She's approachable, open for company and a little chat. Anything to keep her mind off things.

Some people may not recognise her but others might. Perhaps she could have some fun with this while it lasted.

The hope being that it wouldn't last for too much longer because being a man was something she had taken a while to get used to. Oh, she could dress herself up well: sharp suit, matching tie and perfect hair- but it didn't prepare Bela for all the things that came with being male.

Now she believes she has a handle on it. Doesn't mean she had to like it.
