[ Steve has found a fairly isolated spot for himself, up on the checkerboard hills. It gives him a good view of the entirety of Wonderland, but doesn't leave him as exposed as the roof would, where anyone might come across him.

HYDRA isn't here. He has already established that time and time again, but that could also change at any moment. All Wonderland has to do is bring in one member of that organization and it might spread throughout this place like a plague.

It's been quiet, so quiet that he doesn't know what to do with himself except fall back on instincts. Stay away from people, be on the ready for any potential threats...

But something has been nagging at him, and he needs to talk. A video broadcast is out of the question. His voice alone will do. And that voice no longer has any real authority in it. The man who was there to encourage people, to remind them that they would get through this, he isn't there. His tone is much more subdued, almost like he doesn't think he deserves to be sending out this message. ]

You ever wonder how things might have been... if you'd just been a little faster? If you hadn't hesitated for that split second? [ He heaves a sigh. ] Yeah, I guess everyone has regrets. And we tell ourselves that it's pointless to dwell, that there's nothing we can do, and we have to live with our mistakes, but...

Wonderland treats time like its plaything. If it can pull us from any time, why can't it send us back?

[ The message ends there, but Steve will be spending the next few days wandering around the grounds like a ghost, shield always on his arm and wearing a uniform that's seen better days. It's torn up and faded, but he keeps it on as a reminder of that day when everything had gone to hell. ]

[ If Brennan is surprised to wake up beside a particular Tevinter necromancer this morning, he's quick to slip out of the room before the other man wakes, to keep any such reactions to himself. Except then he's not really sure on where to go, because there's a mage asleep in his bed, so he ends up at the diner instead.

When he flicks the feed open, he's looking somewhat tousled and a little confused as he nurses a steaming cup of tea. ]

Did anyone else wake up... somewhere odd this morning? Or just somewhere they didn't expect to be?

[ Or perhaps, in his case, somewhere he didn't expect someone else to be.

As far as video messages go, this is a rather short one, but he flicks it off after that to see if he gets any response from anyone.

Instead, he makes himself cozy in a diner booth and has some breakfast. If anyone comes to join him, they might notice that the Anchor, usually so prominent on his left hand, has gone missing. Not that he seems at all concerned by that, or even seems to notice. ]

[Nageki doesn't leave his room. He's holed up in his room, the door and windows securely locked. He would have pushed the tables and bookshelves of his room in front of those entrances if he'd been strong enough. He needs to keep the virus his body carries contained.

He knows how all of Earth's humans will die. He doesn't want to see any of Wonderland's humans suffer the same fate.

So he posts a warning.]

There is a deadly virus in room 8 on the first floor. Stay away from it.

Did you know that basic Christianity teaches that human beings are the only ones with immortal souls? Nothing else has 'em. I mean - So, in Abrahamic religion, no animals or anything else has a soul. That's pretty arrogant. Thomas Aquanis later argued that everything has a soul, just agreed that we've [ sorry, "you've" ] got the only ones worth bumping up or down after death.

[ Hmm, hmm. He glances down at a series of papers, not at all uncommon for Sam's room, and then knocks them aside with a disappointed scoff. ]

But then you get into ancient Greeks and Romans with the psyche and the different parts of what Plato considered to be the soul. Aristotle was the first one who said that the actual, physical body was different than a soul; that guy was right, by the way, in case anyone's keeping score.

[ ... ]

Except, he thought the soul made you into... what you're ultimately meant to be. That part... not so much.

[ Sam chuckles, shaking his head. Usually, he'd go on detailing whatever miniutae of facts he has in front of him, but today, he just eyes the camera and shuts it off with a somehow amused roll of of his eyes. ]
