sugarcar: (Are you a hobo?)

[The video takes a second to actually turn on - almost as if it was done by accident because of someone fiddling with the new device they found. The expression she's wearing is definitely a cross between a confused and an amused look, however.]

So I might be kinda new here, like, really new, but there sure seems t'be a lotta commotion 'bout gifts. What, did I miss Christmas or somethin'?

[A pause.]

I mean, not that I know if you guys even really celebrate that. But ya coulda fooled me if not. Just thought that was kinda amusin'. Well, while you guys have fun goin' ape 'bout presents I'm gonna have a look around.

[The feed clicks off, and Vanellope begins making her way around the mansion - starting with glitching through the wall in the room she arrived in (whoo, she can still do that here!). Keeping the thoughts of being lost and in an unfamiliar place at bay. She didn't need anyone to see her like that, not unless she happens to find someone she knew.

She can be found anywhere in the mansion, even glitching into random rooms!]

[ As always, Video Time with Mondo will have some kind of motion sickness-inducing bits as he's still... not very accustomed to technology, pardon him. This time it begins as soon as the feed starts. Don't worry, he isn't flinging the palm pilot ー he's broken one, got another, learnt his lesson, etc. This is just him figuring out how to get the package out of the wrapping and show it at the same time. ]

Hey, uh. Apparently there were other people who've got 'em, but like you guys I've got this note.

[ And as always, a well-built teenager will be gracing your screen with his massive corncob pompadour. He's trying to show the notes but ... it gets too close you probably can't read it. But whenever he pulls it back you'll be able to tell that it's the same 'In the search for something lost, do what you know you must. -RQ' one. ]

Sure as hell this ain't for me nor is it mine, so. Anyone can tell me if they recognise this?

[ He tries his best to keep his hand still as he uses another to show off a humongous pink sweater, with 'Mr. Dad Guy' text stitched on the front of it. It's possible that you don't manage to see the full text, as the sweater really is Big, and there's so much Mondo can show with his lack of innovation to... maybe set the palm pilot somewhere stable so he can show it off better. Well, gotta take what you can get from this doof. ]

If you do, gimme a ring or whatever. Yeah. Bye.

[ Awkward it might be, but at least it cuts off rather smoothly. Yes, he's figured out the off button! ]

[Those who've been here for a while might remember the last time Shepard addressed Wonderland in the Citadel, all smiles and lackadaisical jokes. However, today, she's addressing the Mansion at large like a commander- her shoulders are flat, back straight, expression serious.]

Alright. So if I'm correct from the network, a lot of us received items with the same cryptic note and a lot of weird stuff. Some of 'em don't seem to do anything. Some of them, apparently, are eyeballs.

[She brings her right hand into view, holding a broken half of a compact mirror; the mirror inside is shattered beyond repair.]

I got this- but it wasn't broken when I got it. It went to the Queen of Hearts. And because I don't believe in bullshitting anyone here, we should talk about the fact that what's going on right now is purposeful, and we need to be a hell of a lot more careful.

Cut for length )

If this is what I think it is, it asks more questions than it answers.

[ Nora tentatively holds up a jar from which a soft, glowing light emanates. It's clear she's nervous about breaking it and she looks pretty nervous as she glances down at it. ]

I always assumed this place was feeding off our memories to keep it going. If it's just storing them like this ... I don't know what to think.

Anyone want to come take a look? I'd rather not open it, though, just in case.

I'm curious to find out just how many people here are from what would be considered older time periods. I'm from 1912 myself, and I've met a few people from before that or around that time, but I think there may be more of us than I originally assumed. Perhaps we could start a club to catch up on culture and technology that we've missed?

The reason I'm asking is that I found a photograph in my room, an old daguerrotype in a nice frame, of a woman and a little boy. Their clothes are from probably fifty or sixty years before my time. I don't think it's right that I post a picture of it to the network asking whose it is - I understand how personal photographs can be, and I wouldn't like something so personal of mine aired for everyone to see - but I just wanted you to know that if it's yours, I have it, and you are more than welcome to come and retrieve it.

Alright, since everyone else is jumping on this wagon, I thought I might as well too.

[Jean turns the camera to show the gift that he received: A cup of tea and a stack of 5 stroopwaffels.]

Mine's from "RQ" too. I'm not sure if someone's missing a snack, or if this is something else entirely. I haven't tasted any of it, but the tea smells like tea and the cookies smell like molasses. I'm not about to make an experiment out of it either. I barely trust the food that comes from the kitchen, and I sure as hell don't trust this.

Anyone have any idea of what it's for? Or who it might've come from?

Is everyone enjoying their gifts? Hopefully so! Now it's time for a second part to this event.

Whatever (or whoever) delivered all those gifts is beginning to grow impatient. The pressure it's exerting to get what it wants is now showing itself in more obvious ways. Glowing rips will appear in the air around Wonderland, both outside on the grounds and inside the Mansion. The rips hang in midair and if a character touches one, it will project a past event in a fifteen foot radius around the character for about an hour. As long as the character stays in that spot, they will be affected by the mini event. This might mean that the character is forced to speak only the truth in that area or that a small piece of Hogwarts has temporarily cropped up inside the kitchen. Other characters walking through that spot during the ensuing hour will also be affected, but again, they can simply walk out of the mini-event's area in order to escape it (assuming the event's parameters allow for "simply walking out" to be done easily).

Characters are free to choose from any event listed on the bulletin board going as far back as the very first events in Wonderland. Just keep in mind that the events must be scalable so that they can fit into such a small space and a brief period of time. The mini-event caused by a single rip will change everytime the rip is touched, just to add to everyone's confusion enjoyment.

This new aspect of the event is effective immediately. Remember that the last full day of the event is this Friday, September 22.

If you've got any questions, we're going to ask that you ask them on the FAQ thread from the original event post. Just to keep things tidy.

[Given the sheer volume of network posts in the last few days, Satoru hadn't wanted to clog things up further. But he's finally figured out the compass he received and it seems like...something people should know about.

When he starts the feed, he's standing outside, though it's difficult to tell where he is exactly. Kayo is behind him, playing idly with a Rubik's Cube while she waits for him. A few glowing rips can be seen in the vicinity, but they're staying away from them like the smart kids they are.]

I got a compass. [Just going to throw that out there first.] But it didn't point north. I followed it to where it did point and found this.

[He pans the camera around to show a hole in the ground. He turns it back toward himself after a moment. He has no idea what it is he's found, but he has a feeling it matters, and so not knowing is kind of irritating him.]

This means something, right?
